# What is the difference between Insurance Discovery and Eligibility Verification?

**Insurance Discovery** is used when you *do not have* insurance information (self-pay) and need to scan thousands of payers to find active primary, secondary, or tertiary coverage the patient may be unaware of. **Eligibility Verification** is used when you *already have* insurance information and need to confirm it is active and check benefits (copays/deductibles).
